"The ability of the construction industry to attract a sufficient number of qualified young people to support the growth of the economy has been well publicized for years. This shortage has been the primary limiting factor to the growth of many companies. Nearly thirty years ago, we recognized and responded to this challenge by sponsoring a vibrant co-op program for Georgia Tech students. In recent years, our co-op students have numbered fifteen to twenty on each semester rotation. To call these bright young people the lifeblood of the company's future would not be an overstatement. When you realize that seventeen of our former star co-ops are now full time employees — some for nearly twenty years — and that a good number of those are now a part of our leadership team that will take the company into the future, you can understand the importance of the Georgia Tech Co-op Program to McKenney's Inc."
